Award for new visitor centre & museum entrance
The Municipality of Peenemünde, Germany, has awarded a design contract to Furoris Gruppe GmbH Werder (Havel) for a vistor’s centre, which will act as a link between the town’s harbour promenade and the museum area. The spatial programme requires approximately 250 sqm of floor space for entrance hall, tourist information, shop and cashier on the ground floor. Upstairs, about 250 sqm will be used for the municipal authority, including the mayor's office and associated function rooms. The building will also serve as the new entrance for the Historisch-Technische Museum (HTM), dedicated to the history of a rocket and missile research centre that operated there during WWII. Construction is expected to take place from 2020 to 2021, subject to funding provisions.
