30 Sept 2019: David Chipperfield to create master plan for €430m museum upgrade
David Chipperfield Architects have won the tender to prepare a masterplan for the Museum of Natural History in Berlin, which will enable the institution to develop a science campus over the next decade. The federal government and the State of Berlin have promised considerable funds for the future development, with approximately €430m earmarked for renovation and construction projects. In addition to upgrading existing spaces, new modern laboratories will be planned together with buildings to house collections of objects that require a high level of conservation in controlled conditions.
