1st July 2020: Purcell wins contest to restore Assize Court to house Wiltshire Museum

The Devizes Assize Court Trust has announced that Purcell will develop initial plans to restore the historic Assize Court in order to house the Wiltshire Museum. The brief outlines requirements for exhibition galleries, café, shop and museum storage as well as meeting rooms and a large space for events and lectures. Additional work will be undertaken to identify how the building could be used for education, as a venue for local people, and a destination for tourists who can learn about the history of Wiltshire and the Assize Court itself. The complex regeneration project may take 10 years to complete, with costs of over £10 million.
